I first off want to wish everyone out there a very merry CHRISTmas and hopefully a happy and blessed new year.
Now onto my main subject matter :)
Christmas is quite a time of year, people hustle and bustle, kids mirth and bubble over from sheer hapiness and are so excited to find out what is under those fringed tree branches in the living room. I know people who love the feeling of christmas, i know some who aren't big fans because of the commercialization and how people forget the real REASON for the season. I myself love to shop, love hustle and bustle and i LOVE christmas music... in december hehe, when it starts in september...that is OUT OF HAND! :) but i digress, anyways, i also make a point to remember that even though all of those things are fun and good, they are worth little in the grand scheme of things, it's Jesus that is the reason for it all.
That all said i have a thought, Why is it that we only sing certian songs in december because they are "christmas songs" Silent night, O come all ye faithful, Oh Holy Night, Mary did you know?... the list goes on til forever. Why do we only sing song's about our savior being born, in december?! yes its the holidays but rudolph the red nosed reindeer IS a christmas song, Here come's santa clause IS a christmas song, All i want for christmas is you IS a christmas song...and yes, I want a hippopotomos for christmas IS a christmas song.
I understand there is a special aire about singing certian songs but i think we sort of limit these songs to december which isn't quite right in my mind. I'm just thinking, don't stuff songs in a box because they are "christmas" We should celebrate Jesus' birth all year round, we should remember him in june, or august or march or any other assorted month of the year you so choose.
It's a miracle, i'm not ranting today, i'm just chilln and provoking thought (hopefully) so go sing songs, no matter what time of year it is!
Much love, merry christmas

Excellent post! I, for one, shall be performing "White Christmas" at the Celebration of Freedom dressed as Bing Crosby in a Santa suit. Oh wait . . . I guess that misses the point!!!
